Canoeing really is my favourite water sport ever (after swimming) and here’s why:

I got to enjoy canoeing the first time when I was about 9 years old. I don’t remember much about that day. But I remember that I really enjoyed the serenity of the nature and the lake and everything.

So when I was up in Algonquin Park, Canada for a work assignment the first time back in 2014, and there where canoes provided not just for guests of the resort, but also for staff, I had to try it out.

It went so well, I even thought some friends. We even did a birthday card photo project on the lake (Little Joe Lake) involving canoes, and it was a great deal of fun.

But when I went canoeing the day before my 20th birthday, the friend that came along tipped the canoe, soaking us, my camera and his then phone into the lake. My camera recovered, his phone didn’t. But that didn’t matter back then. We still had a lot of fun.

To bad that I haven’t came to enjoy one of my favourite hobbies in a while. There were no lakes/ mayor rivers around, what still is the case. But there also was no canoe rental service that I knew of in my area.

But now I think I finally found a great spot to enjoy canoeing once again, and I’ll definitely blog about it if I get the time to actually do it (I’m planning on a little multi day trip). Will definitely keep you up to date.
