When I finished high school back in 2013 I was just over 18 years old, going to 19.
I did not know what to do with my life.
I did not know what I wanted to do.
I had no real purpose in life.
All I knew was that I had to find my self. And the way I chose to do that was by going somewhere on my own for a while.
The way I chose was a year abroad.
The country I chose was Canada.
So I had made my plan: a year in Canada under the IEC WHP (International Experience Canada – Working Holiday Project) initiative. But even the longest journey starts with the first step.
For me that first step was to build a financial buffer. A whole year would be to expensive for me, but I had plans to work. Still needed some money for bad times.
And they came. But it got all worked out with work.
I grew my self esteem, I learned to value myself more. I found my purpose in life.
As I came back, I still was into the medias. At least I thought so. But in the end I started with the thing I really wanted: studying geoenvironmental engineering at the Clausthal University of Technology. And I love it. It really is what I want to do. I want to make the world better by containing pollution in geo systems. But first I’ll get my bachelors degree (of science).
