Playing with glowsticks.

Last Friday I got a used printer from my uncle to use for university. While I went to the local electronics dealer to get some paper for it to print on, I came across some 1€  glowsticks at the cash register.

So I went ahead and bought a green one.

My plan was it, to go out to the field Saturday night after work. But as usual, it didn’t go as planned. It just wasn’t done outdoors that night. Water and wind just aren’t my cameras best friends.

But I still wanted to play around with my glowstick (no pun intended) a little. So I took the stairs down to have fun in my basement. It wasn’t the best location, as I had originally planned to include some power poles and the road in my shots, but again, it was storming outside.

SO I set my camera up in my basement. I wasn’t happy with the first room I went in, my lens was too narrow for it, but it kinda worked out in the second, much larger room. We usually use that for storage of various stuff.

I had to find out, that I was really happy with the results, so these two really are my best shots from that night.

I still have some tips for you:

  1. Choose an interesting location.
  2. Be patient and wait for good weather if it’s outdoors.
  3. Wear something dark if you don’t want to be in the shot.
  4. Use a sturdy tripod.
  5. If possible, use more then one colour of glowsticks.

I’ll definitely return to my original plan with an assortment of glowsticks and try some light trails outdoors if weather permits. If not, I guess I’ll have to wait.

What colours should I try? Tell me in the comments down below.
