I’ve enjoyed photography ever since I can remember. I got my first camera at the age of 5. And back in 1999, everything was still pretty much film. And I enjoyed it.
Disclaimer: I’m doing some film photography again, read more here (> click me).
But this is a different story.
Back in 2013, I wanted to get a nice camera for my year abroad in Canada, which started a year behind schedule, but so be it. I initially wanted to get the then new (?) Nikon D5300. Budget decided against that, and so I got a Sony DSC-HX20v, as I had good experiences with Sony Cameras before that. I was happy with that camera. But it broke.

So I neede a new one.
I decided to go for a DSLR, and I decided against Sony. And Nikon.
I chose to get a Canon after trying out some of the cameras I liked back then. Initially, I had decided to buy a Canon 1200D off eBay classifieds, but that guy never showed up. So I went to the electronics store to see what they had to offer, and I found that I liked the Canon 100D way better than the 1200D. So I decided to get that one.
After some consultation, my mom was okay with getting me that camera for Christmas of 2015. I still had to pay half the camera.
Christmas came, and I got the camera. And since my own money was involved, and I know what I would be getting, I already had bought myself some spare batteries and a blow duster.

And it was a perfect timing as well. A few days later I departed for the Netherlands to celebrate New Years with some friends.
And that’s how I got my first DSLR.
